Colourful Palmwoods tribute honours Sandra Pearce

By Cameron Outridge

Hundreds of members of the Palmwoods community packed Nambour’s Gregson and Weight Chapel on August 27 to celebrate the life of Sandra Lea Pearce, a local businesswoman who passed away peacefully at her home on August 9 aged 60.

The co-owner of Brady’s Fruit in Palmwoods was a familiar face in the community, known for her warm demeanour and dedication to providing fresh, quality produce. Her influence extended far beyond her business, with her kindness and generosity touching the lives of countless people in the region.

Her son, Matt Pearce, delivered a moving tribute that highlighted Sandra’s deep love for her family and her unwavering commitment to the community. “Mum filled everyone’s lives with an extraordinary amount of love and warmth,” he said. “She always made us feel like the most special people in the world. We could do no wrong in her eyes, and she made sure we knew it every single day.”

Sandra’s life was characterised by her strong partnership with her husband, Colin, with whom she worked side by side at Brady’s Fruit for the last 20 years. Their bond, both personal and professional, was a testament to the strength and love they shared. “Mum was very proud of the life she and Dad created when they bought Brady’s Fruit in September 2004,” Matt said. “She truly shined as a boss and impacted the lives of many young kids who worked at the shop.”

Sandra was not only a dedicated business owner but also a devoted mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. Matt spoke of her joy in her role as a grandmother, saying, “Mum’s role as Grandma in her life to my kids, Hallie and Johnny, was where her heart truly shined. She absolutely spoiled them, and honestly, it’s a good thing she did.”

Sandra’s influence and love were not confined to her immediate family. She was deeply involved in the lives of her parents, Arthur and Jan, her siblings Raymond and Leanne, and her extended family.

“She was the glue that kept our close-knit family together,” Matt said.

The service also included tributes from Sandra’s parents, Arthur and Jan, who expressed their deep love for their daughter and their sadness at her passing.

“We are going to miss you very, very much, our darling daughter.”

The Pearce family invited attendees to wear bright colours to the service. The large turnout was a testament to the impact the Pearce family has on the community, as friends, family, and acquaintances gathered to pay their respects and share memories of a woman who lived life on her own terms.

“Mum, you’ve left a lasting impact on all of us, and while we’ll miss you terribly, your love and laughter will stay with us forever,” said Matt.
