THE Vespa Club of Australia has unveiled plans for a brand-new Vespa Club on the Sunshine Coast, set to become the ninth Vespa Club in the country. The official launch is timed to coincide with the upcoming national Vespa Days, running from 27–30 March at the Nambour Showgrounds—an event expected to draw Vespa enthusiasts from across Australia.

Local rider Chris Brown, who spearheaded the new club, says the need was evident. “Many of us on the Coast were members of the Brisbane club,” Brown explained, “but distance meant we rarely made it to social events. Now we’ll have our own regular ride outs and gatherings closer to home.”

Vespa—Italian for “wasp”—has charmed riders worldwide since Piaggio introduced the first model in 1946. Known for their distinctive silhouette and easy handling, Vespas quickly became a symbol of freedom and style, attracting owners of all ages. Enthusiasts say the friendly ‘buzz’ of Vespa communities is part of the draw: shared rides, show-andshine events, and relaxed weekends away create a camaraderie unlike any other.

Being part of the Vespa Club of Australia also opens the door to the global Vespa World Club. “It’s about connecting with like-minded riders everywhere,” Brown added.

“We can swap stories, travel tips and even organise meet-ups internationally.”

The new Sunshine Coast chapter aims to host regular social rides, weekend getaways and other events to celebrate the iconic scooter. All Vespa owners, whether vintage buffs or modern riders, are encouraged to join.
