Sundale Foundation presents $56, 892 in grants to charities
Sundale Community Foundation presented nearly $57,000 to 12 local charitable organisations at the fifth annual community grants awards at the Nambour RSL on Tuesday (October 11).
Mayor Mark Jamieson said the funds provided through the Foundation would assist charities and the community members they supported.
“The ripple effect is far reaching and makes a difference to the lives of so many,” he said. “I’m pleased they will benefit, thanks to the generosity of this Foundation and its partners.”
SCF Chair, Caroline Hutchinson said the volunteer board was proud to assist worthy local community groups from Nambour and surrounding area in what had been another difficult year.
“2021 continues to be tough for community,” she said. “In partnership with our Community Partners these funds will help locals in many ways. Thanks to Sundale Limited and Ken Mills Toyota for their cash donations to assist SCF to provide community grants.”
Sundale Executive Manager Aged Care and Community Services Michelle McGowan said Sundale strived to make a difference in people’s lives every day.
“These grants allow us to extend our support beyond the aged care sector,” she said.
“Sundale is honoured to donate $4500 to The Compass Institute Inc for the design and installation of a mural, $5000 to Suncoast Christian Care to help fund the purchase of a food trailer and $6800 to Restoring Hope Parkinson's Therapy so they can continue their amazing work.
“We hope the grants make a difference to local families and allow The Compass Institute Inc., Suncoast Christian Care and Restoring Hope Parkinson's Therapy to continue their meaningful and valuable work throughout the Sunshine Coast community.”
Brett Mills from Ken Mills Toyota said his family has a long and proud association with Nambour. “So it is an absolute pleasure to be able to support the Nambour Heritage Tramway through the Sundale Community Foundation grants program,” he said.
“We believe this $5000 grant for audio visual equipment will have a significant impact on the useability of the community space at the depot on Mill Street and we look forward to seeing events and gatherings thrive here for many years to come.”
Grants were presented at the event to: Wishlist, Sunshine Sanctuary Association, Burnside State High school P&C, Spiral, Restoring Hope Parkinson’s Therapy, Nambour Wildcats Soccer Club, Woombye Community Library, The Compass Institute, Suncoast Christian Care, Palmwoods Warriors Football Club, Nambour Tramway, Lily House.

Sundale Community Foundation was established in 2015 by Sundale Ltd with the aim of extending the charitable influence of Sundale through financial grants for worthy projects in Nambour and environs. $1 million was gifted by Sundale Ltd to kick-start the Community Foundation; and thanks to the Sundale Community Foundation Board of volunteers that money has been invested and earnings from those funds are distributed to community grants each year. This year SCF received 28 applications from local community organisations with a total of $207,578.58 of grants requested.
