Sundale hosts conference on aged care innovation and standards
South-East Queensland’s aged care leaders have descended on the Sunshine Coast to discuss and debate the future of aged care in Queensland.
The Sundale Conference, organised and hosted by Sundale, based on the Sunshine Coast, allowed industry leaders to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.
The two-day event covered the new Aged Care Quality Standards and explored topical subjects such as palliative care, trauma informed care, falls prevention and technological innovations in aged care.
Sundale CEO, Cameron Taylor, said the Sundale Conference followed the resounding success of last year’s Palliative Care Conference, the first of its type on the Sunshine Coast.
“For more than six decades, Sundale has been synonymous with exceptional care for seniors throughout the Sunshine Coast region,” Mr Taylor said.
“We’re committed to driving innovation and excellence in aged care, and this conference is an extension of that.”
Representatives from multiple Sunshine Coast based aged care providers attended the conference, which included presentations from The Dementia Centre’s, Yvonne Feeley, a Clinical Dietician focussed on the aged care population and Dr Diane Corser, a Clinical Psychologist who specialises in senior trauma informed care.
“It is imperative all aged care professionals, nurses and carers are up to date with industry developments, so they are best placed to care for the region’s aging population,” Mr Taylor said.
“We have heard from some of Queensland’s best aged care specialists, who have delivered some fantastic insights to all attendees. This event was nothing short of fantastic.”
