Hinterland aged care provider Blackall Range Care Group has been recognised for its innovative responses through the pandemic.

RangeCare was last month named the organisational winner of the Queensland Excellence in Age Services Award 2021.

The awards were conducted recently by Leading Aged Services Australia (LASA), the national association for age service providers across residential care, home care and retirement living.

Blackall Range Care Group CEO Greg Mannion said RangeCare’s Organisational Award nomination highlighted the innovative services launched during the COVID-19 lockdowns and border closures of the last 18 months.

“We were nominated due to our outstanding and innovative achievements in caring for our clients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr Mannion said. “We were able to implement a home delivery meal service incorporating partnerships with local restaurants and cafes, a home delivery of fruit, vegetables and butcher meat, in-home haircuts and beard trimmings, and an iPad and some in-home help to launch Facetime or similar, so our clients could keep in touch with family and friends from afar.”

RangeCare has continued to provide a person-centred approach to community care since 1986. “Winning this award would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our employees and volunteer community, who support our clients to live independently in their homes for as long as possible and help improve their quality of life,” said Greg.

The LASA awards aim to recognise excellence across Australia’s aged care services industry. The announcement of the award win coincided with Aged Care Employee Day on Saturday 7th August, 2021. The awards were judged across the five categories; Individual, Next Gen Young Leader, Organisation, Rising Star and Team.

As the Queensland winner of the organisational award, RangeCare will now be put forward as a state finalist for the National Excellence in Age Services Award 2021, which will be announced in December.
