Visitors to Nambour’s Quota Memorial Park will soon have a much-improved place to picnic and relax, thanks to a $75,000 Sunshine Coast Council upgrade.

“The existing barbecue and picnic shelter, pictured right, have reached the end of their useable life and are being replaced to provide an inviting, more accessible gathering and recreational space for residents and visitors to enjoy year-round,” said Div 10 Cr David Law.

“The renewal of the barbecue and picnic shelter is really well-timed and I am looking forward to the work being completed and Quota Memorial Park having more accessible facilities.”

Quota Memorial Park, located on the corner of Matthew and Ann Streets, is a popular and versatile community space.

It incorporates the Nambour Skate Park and Youth Activity Precinct, a memorial space for veterans known as the Heroes Walk and an enormous 35-tonne sculpture of a set of cogs and gears from the old Moreton Sugar Mill.

“The design of this upgrade has taken into consideration the existing site conditions and landscape, which had been specially designed to be robust and easy to maintain following flooding events,” Cr Law said.
