Club honours league stalwart with life membership

Palmwoods Rugby League stalwart Norm Schleusener has been recognised for his service to the club with Life Membership.

Norm’s service to Palmwoods Rugby League goes back to 1974 where he played Under 16s all the way to A-Grade.

Norm played for over 20 years and featured in the breakthrough grand final Seniors win.

“After he retired from higher grades he played for Palmwoods in the C-Grade comp & went on to help take out the Premiership in about 1991,” said club spokesperson Alan Mewton.

“He played a few more years then took up refereeing. He was a foundation member of the reformed juniors in 1999 where he become our second president for eight years.

“While he was president he coached juniors & refereed. From 1999 he spent 15 years with the juniors.

“He has now retired to Childers but all together spent 45 odd years in the game.

“The club is hoping to attract more people like Norm in 2022 .

“As a playing body we are hoping to take out the competition in respect for Norm’s services. So glad he was finally recognised for his good work.”
