Organisation welcomes new peer facilitator with lived experience
Parent to Parent (P2P) Queensland, which has provided practical support for families and people with disabilities for over 25 years, has appointed Shaun as the newest member of its Peer Facilitator team.
Shaun, who lives with an intellectual disability, brings significant experience in advocacy and a record of high achievement to the role. As a Special Olympics athlete, he has represented Australia in football in Athens, earned a bronze medal in skiing in Austria, and achieved top placements in athletics on the international stage. In addition to his sporting accolades, Shaun has demonstrated ongoing personal dedication by completing over 340 Park Run events, including a 28km marathon over the past 11 years.
In his new role, Shaun will help create forums, workshops, peer groups, and advocacy opportunities for people with disabilities and their families. His appointment reinforces P2P Queensland’s longstanding commitment to genuine inclusion and community support.
Outside of his professional work, Shaun is known for his warm personality and is an enthusiastic BBQ enthusiast, frequently found behind the grill preparing delicious meals.
