A Banquet of Tasty Morsels at The Old Ambo exhibition

Banquet by Liminal and Friends is the latest art exhibition at Nambour’s Old Ambo gallery. Banquet comprises a large number of works which fill the gallery space. It is a diverse show ranging from street art inspired spray painted works and installations to pottery, ceramics, paintings and digital art.

Artist Julya Hegarty explains that Liminal is an eclectic bunch of artists from Nambour and the Sunny Coast who met at Nambour TAFE and decided to unify their many different art forms into one exhibition. “The show was three months in the making with lots of help from the local community which has been very supportive,” Julya said. “The Old Ambo generously donated the gallery space to us and assisted with lighting and pulling together the band for the opening.”

As part of the show there will be workshops and guided walking tours of Nambour. Details may be found on the Old Ambo’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Artist Humble Dumpling says that street art walks are a joyful excuse to take a walk in the evening cool, and enjoy your township through a nocturnal lens.

He says that the title of the exhibition, Banquet, was a joke but it is also the truth, in that it is a thematic thread to weave between diverse works, which make a rich gumbo of exotic flavours.

Banquet runs at the Old Ambo at 80 Howard St, Nambour, until February 22. The gallery is open from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 3pm. We hope you can join us at the table.
