Major influencer enlisted to promote Nambour’s shopping treasures

Nambour has a flourishing retro and vintage scene to explore and now 17 of the popular destinations are laid out for shoppers on a handy map.

The Nambour “Vintage and Retro Op Shop Hip Hop Map” is a joint project of the Nambour Retailers Group, ReImagine Nambour, Nambour Chamber of Commerce and Nambour Tram Co. who all recognised the Vintage and Retro resurgence in the hinterland town.

“Nambour is the perfect place to discover original items and treasures from times past,” said organiser Rhonda Billett.

The map is sure to get massive exposure thanks to Sunshine Coast social media influencer Brooke Styles (Brooke Styless official) who assistied the launch yesterday (November 1).

Brooke has over 200,000 followers on Instagram and a million on Tik Tok and will be promoting the Nambour map initiative as a part of her regular ‘Thrift Thursday’ series.

“Being a Sunny Coast local, and then growing up here, I thrifted a lot in Nambour,” said Brooke. “My mum introduced me to thrifting, and then that’s where the passion grew.

“But I got my crafty side from my grandma, so they kind of just mixed in, and then that’s how I blossomed into who I am today.

“And we used to thrift in Nambour all the time. And it’s just like boom, the scene here. It’s been incredible!

“I noticed every time we came into Nambour there would be more and more op shops, and it’s really affordable in this area.

“And I think the biggest thing is that when people are donating, they’re also being responsible and recycling. And I feel like everyone here in Nambour  donates really well.

“I think, especially here with Crafters Heart, how they started the cafe side of it, it’s just become way more urban and cool and funky. So I think the retro and vintage scene is becoming a real big thing here.”

“Nambour has gained quite the reputation for all things vintage and retro,” said Rhonda. “With customers travelling from Brisbane and beyond to experience the cool cafe and vintage shopping scene that has evolved.”

Rhonda worked with Sunshine Coast Council and hinterland Graphic Designer Katie Buckley to bring the map to life for Nambour.

Footpath Market Day coming soon

“We are also currently working towards a regular Footpath Market Day in Nambour with a strong focus on supporting all businesses, including the Vintage and Retro shopping scene,” she said.

The map also lists four local Vintage/Retro events including Nambour’s famous Collectorama and The new Nambour Rummager’s Market.

“There is something for everyone to enjoy,” said Rhonda.

The maps are available at this stage online at www.nambour.com and www.iamnambour.com.au or find one in store at one of our 17 Nambour Op Shop/Vintage shopping locations.
