Nambour’s Young Pinnacle Program takes flight

This term Nambour State College welcomed back Year 5 and 6 students from all over the Sunshine Coast to participate in immersion days as part of their Young Pinnacle Program. The program, which is designed to offer early enrichment opportunities, allows like-minded students to form connections.

Year 5 students explored activities as Creatives, Cultivators, Innovators and Scholars. They participated in dance and drama activities, visited the animals at the farm, experienced robotic technology and explored maths in e-gaming.

“It was an exciting day for all involved,”  said Acting Junior/Secondary Head of Department, Talitha Tranent.

A week later, the Year 6 students visited Nambour State College to spend half the day as innovators and half the day as athletes.

“Students were provided with the opportunity to fly drone technology – something that had them all talking!,” she said.

“As athletes, they learnt volleyball skills before playing a few games in the Thunderdome with student leaders from Nambour State College’s elite volleyball team. The staff and students are excited to work together again next term.”
