'Everyone should feel safe when in our town,' says Nicklin MP

Nicklin MP Rob Skelton

Member For Nicklin Rob Skelton MP provided the following Letter to the Editor in response to our story in the last edition outlining Reimagine Nambour’s proposal to gauge interest in paying for extra police patrols in the Nambour CBD.

I write in response to the article from Peter Boyce of Reimagine Nambour published in your last edition (SVG, October 19).

I want to thank all the community groups, small businesses and families who I have been speaking with for their commitment to community safety.

Everyone should feel safe when in our town.

That’s why I have already written to the Police Minister to discuss these issues that have been raised with me by local businesses.

Our local police do a fantastic job and work hard every day to make our community safer. Operation Lucent is already operating locally out of the new Nambour Police Station focussing on property crime and public nuisance offences through October to November.

I look forward to working with the Queensland Police Service, council, and all members of the community to continue to protect and invest in our town.

There is always more to be done to make sure our community is thriving, and my door is always open to anybody who has a valuable contribution to make.

You can always contact my office on 5406 4100, at nicklin@parliament.qld.gov.au, or in person at 3/51 Currie St Nambour if you would like to get in touch with me.
