Nambour Toads to host biggest day of the year

The Nambour Rugby Union Football Club is set to host its annual Sponsors and Ladies Day on July 20, 2024, at Toad Manor, Woombye.

Club President Greg Wright described the event as "the biggest day of the year for our club," and a fantastic opportunity to showcase the strength and passion for rugby in the hinterland.

The day kicks off with the under-8s match at 9.30am, followed by the under-11s at 10.15am. All junior teams will play throughout the morning, setting the stage for an exciting day of rugby.

At midday, the Nambour ladies team will take on the Caboolture Snakes. This match will be followed by the under-14s game against Noosa, serving as a warm-up for the main events of the afternoon.

“We have our ladies playing at midday against Caboolture Snakes, followed by the under-14s as a warm-up for the main game,” said Greg.

The C-grade team will face off against the Caboolture Snakes at 2pm, with both Caboolture teams making the long trek to support the Nambour Toads on this special occasion.

Greg expressed gratitude for their participation. “Both teams from Caboolture have made the long trek to support the Nambour Toads’ special occasion, and we thank them.”

The highlight of the day will be the main game, featuring Nambour’s old boys, affectionately known as The Warts.

“These legendary stalwarts, who still believe they have what it takes, will line up to put on a memorable exhibition match for the guests.

“The Warts are coming out of the woodworks by the droves to line up and put on a show to remember," said Wright.

Nambour’s men’s senior team, currently on top of the ladder in the Cricks Cup, is also poised to make a strong impression as they head towards the finals campaign.

Wright emphasized the significance of the event. “It will be a great showcase of rugby union for all to come see. Rugby in the hinterland is here for the future and still has a strong following.”

All are welcome to attend this community event, which promises a day full of rugby excitement and celebration at Nambour Rugby Union Football Club, Laidlaw Road, Woombye.

The day will feature junior, senior and women’s matches at the Club’s home ground on Laidlaw Road Woombye, on July 20
