18yo raises funds for Parkinson’s after seeing its effects first-hand

Restoring Hope: Alison Donaldson cuts her son Eli’s hair last Thursday. There’s still time to donate. Donations close October 30.

In his young life, Nambour teen Eli Donaldson has seen the effects of Parkinson first hand.

“I have had the privilege of living a couple of doors down from a wonderful man by the name of Peter, who has Parkinson’s ‘living with him’ as he says,” said Eli.

“My grandfather also has Parkinson’s and it isn’t pleasing to see the deterioration of life it causes without the right people helping them on their path back to recovery.”

Eli decided he’d do something about it and has raised over $800, so far, for Restoring Hope Parkinson’s Therapy in the past month. On Thursday family and friends witnessed the culmination of the fundraiser as Eli’s mum Alison did the honours.

There’s still time to give as donations don’t close until October 30.

Eli’s haircut followed the RHPT weekly “Choir of Sound Intent” therapy session at 86 Windsor Road, Nambour, which runs Thursday’s from 3pm to 4pm each week.

RHPT is a local charity established in October 2019 with the vision to restore the lives of those impacted by Parkinson’s and empower living with intent. The weekly maintenance programs have been offered free of charge to all graduates since August 2020.  See the RHPT website for more information.
