Danny Constable: “I basically teach people the music they love and want to play.”

After taking a break from music during the lockdowns of the past couple of years Nambour musician, Danny Constable, is back teaching guitar to people of all ages.

“My youngest student is 5 and my oldest is in their late 80s,” he said. “Which proves that you can pick up a guitar and play at any time of your life! Age is really no barrier.”

Danny has been playing guitar for almost 30 years and has taught guitar on the Sunshine Coast for 8 years.

“When COVID hit, it put an end to the lessons and professional gigs I was playing. I took the opportunity to have a break but I am coming back to it now because I really miss it,” he said.

“As a child, my guitar teacher was quite inflexible and there was no room for creativity. Later in life, I was fortunate enough to find a wonderful teacher who was the opposite of that and he instilled in me the inspiration to continue to learn and develop as a musician.

“When it comes to my own teaching method, I basically teach people the music they love and want to play. I can teach a broad range of styles and genres. As a teacher, I show my students how to find inspiration and inspire themselves. This is the incredible thing about learning music. You will always continue to develop as you follow your intuition and inspiration. I love being able to facilitate this in my students.”

Danny teaches guitar, ukulele and bass and over the years, has found that people have had all kinds of motivations to learn guitar.

“I have had students who want to pursue music for fun or professionally, others who want to keep aging at bay, to one particular student who wanted to play the ukulele at his daughter’s wedding. And it’s all good.”
