Get Set For Work: PCYC secures a timely extension for youth job support program

Sergeant Mick Hughes with Get Set for Work Program coordinator Megan Harkin.

The PCYC is excited to announce that its Sunshine Coast ‘Get Set for Work’ Program has been extended from September through to June 2025.

Sergeant Mick Hughes said “we are really chuffed to have this program extended through to June next year and are very thankful for the support and funding we have received from Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work program.

“It is a great program for the youth of the Sunshine Coast and one that we believe the Sunshine Coast really needs at the moment.”

The program is designed for 15 - 19 year olds who are not actively involved in education or work and need additional support to take steps towards their career goals.

“It’s a unique program as it has the flexibility for our youth workers to tailor the content around the specific needs of the individual, whilst also delivering a nationally recognised qualification,” said Sgt Hughes.

“We have just had twenty participants graduate from our last program, with the majority achieving great outcomes through their work with us.

“We are now calling for applications now for our next intake, which will commence on the 14th of October.  Enquiries can be made by calling our team on 0400 975 821.”
