Creative women open hub for dance, art, etc

From left, podcaster Amanda Wallace, directors Belinda Light and Hana Nataprawira and Isabella Scarcella have transformed the old building into an arts hub for music, dance, art etc.

Dance Art Etc is a brand-new studio and events space in the newly renovated space next door to Small Change Espresso in Currie Street, Nambour.

Dance Art Etc will be hosting an Open Day from 1.30pm to 7pm on Saturday May 27.

Renovations have unearthed a peaceful, beautiful atmosphere that has retained some visual reminders of Nambour’s history.

“Coronation Cakes used to be in this building and the original signage for it remains in the back of the studio,” said co-owner, Belinda Light. “We have painted our own artwork and murals around it and the blend of the old and the new just works,” she said.

Dance Art Etc is dedicated to the arts, in its many and varied forms and the Open Day will provide glimpses into what will be offered.

Hana, of Sienna By the Sea Art will be hosting a 90 min painting experience at 1.30pm where you can learn how to paint a live model. A variety of Dance workshops, including Bellydance, Rajasthani Dance and Body Movement will also be held on the day.

Live Music is being supplied by local band Veratie, Chris and Amanda and songbird Neinke.

“Mingles and food and drink will be available, and it will be a fabulous chance to connect with some locals and explore the timetable,” Belinda said.

The launch of the Dance Art Etc Podcast hosted by Amanda Wallace will include an introduction to all the permanent artists in the hub followed by a 40 minute show that includes vibrant and sensational acts of bellydance, vocal journeys and crowd participation. “Finally, we will close with an Open Stage at 6pm where we can sit back and enjoy some raw local talent from any individual who wants to present a song, poem, music etc,” said Belinda.

“There will be a display of some local artwork through the studio on the Open Day for you to browse and enjoy.

“We would love to see everyone there, and know that Dance Art Etc is a welcoming, wholesome space that is designed to help spark the inspiration within you of your own creative capabilities.”

Dance Art Etc is at 120 Currie Street Nambour.
