Nambour groups continue activation push

Rhonda Billett ... “we should all be really, really excited about what is coming Nambour’s way in 2023”.

Local businesswoman Rhonda Billett is filled with optimism about the direction Nambour is taking.

The vivacious owner of Uptown Hair Studios set about this year to unite local groups and businesses under the same banner with a common cause.

At the same time she has garnered support from Sunshine Coast Council to implement a Nambour Activation Plan to reactivate and energise the CBD.

The loosely affiliated organisations hold monthly meetings with Council aimed at growing the local economy.

Nambour Chamber of Commerce, Reimagine Nambour, Tram Co and Nambour Retailers Group work alongside Div 10 Cr David Law, Mayor Mark Jamieson, key council staff and relevant businesses and groups.

The aim is to help ensure everything they do aligns with Council’s  vision for Nambour with a particular focus on the Nambour CBD revitalisation.

Rhonda said she was thrilled with the progress made so far.

“As groups, we are all working towards the same goals for Nambour, we want to see the streets look visually enhanced, we want to see the empty shops tenanted, we want people to feel safe when doing things in the Nambour CBD.

“It is by no means an easy task to navigate solutions to these community driven goals and at times the climb can feel steep in achieving things for the better of Nambour’s CBD.  However, many hands do make for lighter work and with us all working together, we will get this done for Nambour, our groups are determined and its very encouraging.

“We have some absolutely amazing things on the radar for Nambour for 2023 that include more family-type events, more live music, as well as the long-awaited Sunshine Coast Council Placemaking roll-out.

“The planned Nambour placemaking projects will visually enhance areas of our town that need some freshening up.  The community have wanted this for a long time now and in 2023 those plans will become a reality for Nambour.  Its very exciting for the community and we should all be really, really excited about what is coming Nambour’s way in 2023.

“Our vintage shopping map is going well and creating lots of interest. In other great news Small Change Espresso are expanding into the Town Square in Lowe Street in the coming months delivering some much-anticipated activation.

“This is a real turning point for the zone in Nambour and a big congratulations to all who were involved in this outcome. We must support this new business, so be sure to drop in once it is up and going and tell your friends to give it a go too.

“Also, Red Boss video production company have been given the green light to go ahead with our Nambour video series creation.  Once filmed these videos will also be accessible to all groups and businesses for the fresh, renewed Nambour look and feel in keeping with the town.”
