Nambour Blue Demons Division 1 women’s hockey team have featured in every grand final in the local hockey competition since 2011, winning eight of 10.

They continued on their winning way with a 1-nil win against Cooloola Heat on Sunday and the week before beat Maroochydore, also 1-nil.

“We had some great momentum and shots on goal from Candi De Smeth but the very talented Cooloola goalkeeper, Chloe Daly, had a cracking game,” said Blue Demons Captain Kerryl Brown.

“It was another great performance from Maddy Windell.

“She’s a junior, playing her first season in senior hockey and is consistent week in and week out.

“Eva Kersnovske capitalised to give us a 1-0 lead in the second quarter.”

“It’s a positive outcome for the first game of our last round before finals. Giving us a lot to build on and identifying areas of growth before we hit the finals.”

The wins keeps Nambour on top of this season’s ladder after 17 of 20 rounds.

They are destined for the finals which will feature four teams.
