Nambour ANZ appoints new Lending Manager

Lending Manager for ANZ Nambour and Buderim branches Mitch Bird: “You can still talk face-to-face with a banking specialist.” 

A passion for helping people reach their home ownership goals has seen ANZ Bank’s Mitch Bird promoted to Lending Manager for Nambour and Buderim branches.

Woombye locals may remember Mitch who managed the then IGA between 2015 and 2018.

“I had worked at the Woombye IGA for seven years before becoming the manager. After it changed ownership, I went on to the Buderim IGA and then the Beerwah IGA,” Mitch said.

Following a career change into banking Mitch decided to specialise in home loans.

“I have always been interested in property and it has been incredibly rewarding to help people reach their property goals,” he said.

Mitch demonstrated an aptitude for this aspect of banking and rose quickly through the ranks.

He will work from the ANZ Nambour branch and recognises the timing of his entry into the home loans market has brought with it plenty of challenges.

“As anyone in the property market will know, the current situation is almost unprecedented, with enormous demand for both residential and investment properties,” Mitch said. 

“Many homes are selling within days of their listing, and some don’t even formally make it to the market before offers are made. The sheer volume of activity creates a great deal of pressure,” he said.

“But I enjoy the pace and the deadlines. It certainly keeps me out of trouble!

“I think a legacy of being in the Woombye IGA is that I enjoy the relationships I form with people and I love to assist customers in any way I can. 

“I think it is important to be accessible and I find that when people are on the brink of borrowing large sums of money to buy a property, they generally have a lot of questions. I make a point of being easily available to help them with whatever information they need.”

As the larger banks have moved towards more online and telephone banking services in recent years it is good to know you can still have a face to face conversation with a banking specialist, in your local branch.

“I absolutely encourage customers to establish a relationship with their lending specialist,” said Mitch. “For many people, it is the most important financial decision they will ever make.”
