Moving Forward with guest speakers Will Shackel and Colleen Harkin in September

Moving Forward Sunshine Coast is delighted to invite you to our next event with Will Shackel and Colleen Harkin presenting.

Will Shackel is the 18-year-old trailblazer behind Australia’s first youth-led campaign for nuclear energy, "Nuclear for Australia."

Passionate about tackling the energy transition, Will has dedicated himself to advocating for nuclear power as a critical part of Australia’s energy future.

From petitioning for legal reforms, presenting his case before an Australian Senate Committee, and writing a letter to the Prime Minister, to interviewing the French President Emmanuel Macron, his efforts are reshaping the conversation on sustainable energy.

In addition to his advocacy, last year he was a winner of Australia’s most prestigious academic competition, The Simpson Prize. Will is currently in year 12.

Will's topic is: What is nuclear and why Australia needs it. He will also address the common misconceptions about nuclear energy.

Colleen Harkin is the National Manager of the Class Action Program at the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA). Colleen is spearheading efforts to tackle the crises in Australia's education system.

With her extensive background in policy development and community leadership, she’s uniquely positioned to offer actionable solutions that empower educators, parents, and students.

Don’t miss this chance to hear firsthand how her research and strategic vision could revolutionise the Australian education system. Be part of a transformative discussion that could reshape the future of education in Australia.

Colleen will present on the decline in academic standards, the ideological activism in the curriculum and how it is happening; often without parents’ knowledge, and the re-educating of Australia.

The event is scheduled for Sunday 15th of September 2024 (doors open at 1.30pm for 2pm start) and it will be held at North Shore Community Centre, 701 David Low way, Mudjimba. You can book your ticket at www.mfwdsc.com
