WCBA’s new president: From trauma nurse to community leader
Milo Frawley was a trauma nurse practitioner in the largest trauma hospital in the United States.

RETIREMENT has given Milo Frawley the chance to increase his involvement in the Woombye Community and Business Association – although a little more than he thought.
After nine years as a member of the WCBA, Milo thought he would step up into a committee position but has found himself president.
“For several years I was asked if I would consider nominating for a position. But due to work and other commitments, the timing was never right,” he said.
“We were fortunate enough to retire about a year ago and so now the time is right for me.”
Milo had thought he would ease in as vice-president but was not about to contest Grant Palethorpe, who renominated and he said does a “stellar job”.
Milo said accountant Nathan Major was also excellent in the role of treasurer and Richard Law was a natural as secretary.
Milo has vowed to carry on the good work of the WCBA.
He and his wife, Jill, have lived at Woombye since 2015, after choosing to move to the Sunshine Coast to be closer to family.
Milo has spent half of his life working abroad, particularly in Baltimore, where he was a trauma intensive care nurse and then a trauma nurse practitioner in the largest trauma hospital in the United States.
Friendly, small town vibe
He said Woombye had the friendly, small town vibe they wanted and he hoped the town would thrive without losing its small town charm.
The WCBA plays an important role in town by coordinating events, supporting other groups financially, with muscle power, and insurance, and by monitoring government planning and private enterprise, he said.
Milo said this year was shaping up as a busy one for the association.
Meet the Candidates
It will host a Meet the Candidates night with three division five candidates and six mayoral candidates at the Woombye Bowls Club on Monday, 26 February, at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
The 1950s-60s themed Happy Days festival on 5 May is the jewel in the WCBAs’ events crown but it also hopes to be involved in the Sunshine Coast Curated Plate mid-year.
