Men’s Shed Garage Sale & Open Day, November 16

The Sunshine Valley Men’s Shed Inc., located in a rural area at 279 Blackall Range Road, West Woombye, assists the well-being and fellowship of its members, as well as contributing a great deal to the local community within the regions of Woombye and Palmwoods.

A Registered Charity, its membership consists of like-minded men living in the areas of Buderim, Forest Glen, Chevallum, Palmwoods, Woombye and Nambour.

A member of the Australian and Queensland Men’s Shed Associations, it holds a unique position in that it not only has the facilities to conduct Woodwork, Metalwork and Art activities, it also is a small horticultural farm, located on almost five acres of land.

The horticultural aspect is rare amongst Australian Men’s Sheds as members also tend to orchards of various fruit varieties plus an extensive market garden.

Open to members on any day, the Shed’s main day, however, is Wednesday, when projects and various other activities are conducted in the morning.

At 10am Wednesdays, a members’ Toolbox meeting is conducted during a morning tea break, when member fellowship and the sharing of information between the Committee and the Members takes place.

The Shed members are often seen manning the Bunnings Sausage Sizzles in Maroochydore and at other community projects in the area. For example, they have recently built trophy display cabinets and Honour Boards for the Palmwoods Devils Junior Rugby League Club.

Once a year, the Shed conducts a Garage Sale and Open Day. This year it is being held on November 16th from 6.30am to 3.00pm at the Men’s Shed premises at West Woombye.

You can contact the Club at svmswoombye@gmail.com or phone 0498 463 430.
