MACG Christmas Fair returns to  Maleny

Maleny’s much-anticipated annual tradition, the Maleny Arts and Craft Group (MACG) Christmas Fair, is set to bring holiday cheer from November 28 to December 1 at the Maleny Community Centre, 23 Maple Street. The fair opens on Thursday from 5pm to 7pm and continues Friday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm, concluding on Sunday from 9am to 3pm.

The event will showcase an impressive array of handmade creations, including fine art pottery, knitted and crocheted items, woodwork, clothing, bags, glassware, jewellery, and locally made jams. Attendees will have the opportunity to support local artisans and discover unique gifts perfect for the holiday season. A highlight of the fair will be the raffle, with the draw taking place on Sunday.

The MACG, founded in 1977, has played an integral role in shaping Maleny’s arts and crafts scene. From its humble beginnings with just 36 members, the group has flourished to about 250 members today. The MACG supports ten distinct groups ranging from Clay Works to Quilters, fostering creativity and skill-sharing.

Over the years, MACG has evolved to meet community needs by operating a workshop at the Maleny Showgrounds, which offers sessions five days a week. The group’s Gallery on Maple Street, open daily, continues to be a cornerstone for showcasing members’ work and providing unique gifts.

The MACG is also known for its generous contributions to local and national initiatives, such as creating quilts for disaster victims and donating furniture to Maleny Soldier’s Memorial Hospital.

Ample parking is available behind the Community Centre, ensuring visitors can enjoy a seamless experience as they celebrate Maleny’s vibrant arts and crafts heritage at the Christmas Fair.
