Palmwoods JP honoured for 50 years of service
Member for Nicklin, Rob Skelton presented Justice of the Peace Geoff Brown with his 50-year service badge and Certificate from the Department of Justice and Attorney-General on June 15.
Geoff was appointed a JP on May 27, 1972, while working in the Magistrates Court in Nambour. He issued many summons, warrants and recognizances over the years and had at times sat on the bench as a JP to constitute the Court. Not to mention he has witnessed many documents.
Since his retirement in 2006 he has worked in the State Government Justice of the Peace in the Community program at the Nambour Library, at the Nambour Court House and now at the Palmwoods Hall.
Mr Skelton also presented a 40-year JP service award to David Usher who has assisted Geoff at Palmwoods since opening this service some two years ago.
Geoff co-ordinates this service to the Palmwoods Community and advised he could make further days available if Palmwoods and surrounds JPs could offer their time for a few hours each week.
