Graceville Art Festival brings exhibition to St Lukes Church
Workshops, market stalls and an art exhibition will feature at this year’s Graceville Art Festival on June 18 and 19.
The annual event attracts a wide line up of local artists. It includes art displays, art workshops, market stalls, and fun.
Held at St Luke’s Lutheran Church in Nambour, it is a celebration of diversity and inclusion with art displayed within St Luke’s church.
Graceville Centre in Nambour is part of Lutheran Services and offers mental health and disability support, as well as onsite Supported Independent Living.
Local artist Deby Taylor began painting about six years ago following a stroke.
The stroke gave her the motivation to pick up a paintbrush.
“Through yoga and meditation I met a couple of different people who referred to me a group (of artists), many who had contact with Graceville,” she said.
“I’d had a stroke and just decided that now was the time, stop putting it (painting) off.”
She showed 11 paintings in the exhibition.
Another keen artist at the event was Graceville Centre client Jason Rosendahl.
Jason has been painting for many years and loves to work in bold colours, drawing inspiration from what he sees around him and from his imagination.
