Community invited to Easter reflection at Sanctuary Park

Visitors are invited to contemplate the Easter story in the presence of three full-size crosses at Sanctuary Park.

This Easter, the Sanctuary Park Nambour Church of Christ invites the community to an evening of serene reflection. The free event is for anyone to come to the open parklands and to contemplate the Easter story in the presence of three full-size crosses, located at the rear of their property.

After sundown, commemorating Easter Thursday March 28 (Maundy), when Jesus led the Last Supper with His disciples before He was arrested, is indeed an appropriate time for such reflection.

The scriptural story, leading into Good Friday, will be softly narrated, periodically during the evening. Soft reflective ambient background music will also be played between the narrations.

A lit fire brazier will be placed to provide soft light to the crosses. Larger log lit fireplaces will be made available further away from the crosses for those who would feel more comfortable reflecting next to a fireplace. A self-serve communion table will be positioned on the flat ground area.

Packages of reflective devotions and suggested Scripture readings will be made available within the adjacent lit gazebo. Bibles will be made available if needed, as well as be given as gifts to anyone who may not own one. Water will be made available within the gazebo. If you are IT savvy, you may wish to download an applicable podcast, before attending, to assist your reflection time. Obviously, the use of headphones would be appreciated.

Attendees are welcome  to come and go as they please without needing to speak to anyone. There will be people available, however, to talk to, within a nearby courtyard setting if required.

Everyone is also welcome at any time over the Easter period, during day-light hours, to quietly sit and reflect on the Easter story.

You are welcome to bring the kids with balls to kick around within the parklands or take advantage of the fenced small-child play area. Bring a coffee or even have a picnic. We simply ask for everyone to be mindful of anyone else who maybe quietly sitting within the reflection area.

Other Easter Services (in the Chaple): Good Friday – 9am & Resurrection Sunday 9am.

What to bring: Camp chairs or ground blanket, torch, covering clothing and insect repellent.

Maundy (Thursday 28th March) Reflection time: 6pm-8pm. Time may be extended if required.  The address is 22 National Park Road, Nambour. Contact: Office  5441 2833 or Pastor Mark Wall 0456 789 294.
