Mental health advocate with powerful story of survival coming to Nambour

Building awareness about mental health issues: Donna will appear as a guest speaker at a special event in Nambour for business owners and professionals.

In 2012, Donna Thistlethwaite attempted to end her own life. However, fate intervened and she miraculously survived.

Years later, Donna took the brave step of sharing her story with a room full of strangers at a storytelling event. From there, it became her mission to shine a light on this taboo subject, and in 2017 she shared her experience on ABC’s Australian Story.

On Thursday 7 September, Donna will appear as a guest speaker at a special event in Nambour for business owners and professionals aimed at building awareness about mental health issues and sharing strategies for resilience and “mental wellth”.

Hosted by Nambour Chamber of Commerce, the event will take place at Nambour RSL from 5pm as part of the Chamber’s regular ‘Drinks @ 5’ event. It will be followed by a two-part Mental Health & Resilience Training Workshop on Friday 8 September from at Nambour RSL.

Both the networking event and training workshops are FREE to attend for all Sunshine Coast business owners, with the option to attend either or both sessions. Guests must register online for catering purposes:
