AFL legend to join Hinterland Blues for special appearance

Dane Swan remains a beloved figure in the Australian football community.

The Hinterland Blues AFL Club is thrilled to announce that AFL legend Dane Swan will be making a special guest appearance with the team this Saturday (June 29). 

Swan, who was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame last week, is renowned for his outstanding career with the Collingwood Football Club, will bring his expertise and star power to the Blues in what promises to be an unforgettable day for footy for fans and players alike.

Swan, who retired from professional AFL in 2016 after a distinguished career that included a Brownlow Medal and multiple All-Australian selections, remains a beloved figure in the Australian football community. His decision to join the Hinterland Blues for this event underscores his commitment to grassroots football and his ongoing passion for the game.

“We are absolutely delighted to have Dane Swan join us for this special occasion,” said Bruce Bell, Club President. “His presence will undoubtedly inspire our players and fans, and we are grateful to him for taking the time to support our local club.”

After showcasing his skills on the field for the Blues Seniors at 2pm, Dane will swap his boots for a microphone to share stories about his career, offering insights into the game, and delivering plenty of laughs along the way in a Sportsman’s Dinner kicking off at 6:30pm, and hosted by 92.7 Mix Fm host & proud Blues member, Todd Widdicombe! 

The Club is also thrilled to offer a unique opportunity to own a personally signed Dane Swan jersey for just $160 with all profits going straight back into the Club. Following the formalities of the night, local artist Paul Vercoe will entertain the crowd into the night!
