Everyday Foundation keeps doors open to flood-hit community

The Everyday Foundation has served as a vital lifeline for the community both in anticipation of and following Cyclone Alfred.

Not only did the organisation keep its doors open at The Everyday Food Outlet in Howard Street Nambour, for people to get groceries when other stores closed, but they also extended their hours to ensure everyone could access essential supplies.

The Daily Bread quickly adapted its operations to meet urgent community needs.

“Our meal support kitchen – Daily Bread moved for the week to operate out of the Food Outlet, giving away takeaway meals,” said Daily Bread Coordinator Carley Dickson.

“We also delivered hot meals and bottled water to all those at the Nambour Show Grounds Evacuation Centre.

“When we found out that people didn’t have access to proper bedding, we provided fitted sheets and blankets to make their time more comfortable.

“We’re proud to have been able to support those in need during this time and we were reminded of how special our place in the community is with some of our patrons calling into the store to make sure we’re okay.

“We’re continuing to support Nambour and beyond in the aftermath with our low-cost grocery store, meal support kitchen and offering a place for community in Nambour. Anyone can come and see us in store at Howard Street anytime.”
