Pinnacle prospects preview College’s renowned program

State College has been busy introducing year 5 and 6 primary school children to its acclaimed Young Pinnacle Immersion days.

The Young Pinnacle program is designed to provide enrichment and early high-school transition opportunities for interested students.

Year 5s recently explored four of the College’s Pinnacle strands: Athletes, Creatives, Scholars and Change Makers during a day filled with rich learning experiences.

“By the end of the day, our 5s were excited about the prospect of exploring their Pinnacle options further,” said Acting Junior Secondary Head of Department Talitha Tranent. “They will have time up at our farm as Young Cultivators and time navigating our digital world as a Young Innovator next term.”

On  June 8 the Year 6 Pinnacles were able to spend half of their day as a Young Cultivator and the other half as Young Creators.

“This in-depth exploration of the Pinnacle strands we have on offer enable our future Nambour State College students to have a better understanding of what area they would like to apply for next term.”

Importantly, it was also an opportunity for the Year 6s to meet Mrs Tranent who will continue to support any students transitioning into Junior Secondary.

The Pinnacle Program provides the opportunity to connect and learn with like-minded students. Students are supported to improve their skills across the six key capabilities of character, citizenship, collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking.  “We can’t wait for next term, and already have preparation well under way to ensure our immersion experiences deliver,” said Mrs Tranent.
