Club Yandina Championships decided as social calendar rolls on

Club Yandina’s “Big 0’s” Birthday group

Club Championships for 2024 have now been finalised and winners were grinners over the past few weeks.

Men’s Singles Champion is Mick Burn; Men’s Pairs was won by Mick Burns & Aaron Page; Men’s Triples Champions James Ward, Mike Butcher & Lenny Kean; Men’s Fours won by Brad Smith, Eric Woods, James Ward & Glen Ballard. Ladies Pairs winners were Gail McClurg & Pam Styles; Ladies Triples Champions are Lois Cannon, May Coleman (sub for Ros Tie) & Gwyn Bruce; Mixed Pairs Champions are Dave Flannery & Leonie Tappe.  There were some very close games played throughout the Championships and also some unexpected results.

Sunday 30 June saw Club Yandina’s greens awash with colour and laughter.  To celebrate a number of members who were having “Big 0” birthdays this year, the most significant being Gladys Whalley’s 90th birthday, we held a Noughty’s Day where players were asked to come in fancy dress and be ready to relax and enjoy a fun afternoon of bowls.

Prize money of $810 was up for grabs thanks to generous donations from our Major Sponsor, Matt Tie Cleaning Service, and several club members.  The format for the afternoon was 2 games of 14 ends of mixed triples and random prizes were given out during the afternoon.  A delicious afternoon tea was provided for all to enjoy including, of course, the obligatory Birthday Cake.

Sunshine Coast Winter Carnival games were played at Club Yandina on Thursday 11th July and Tuesday 16th July where teams from as far as New Zealand came together for great competitive bowls and enjoyed the hospitality of Club Yandina.

Club members are gearing up for the Sunshine Coast Pennant Season, which will commence on 27th July and we are looking forward to seeing some good results this year.  On Sunday August 25 we will be holding a Memorial Bowls Day to raise funds for Bloomhill Cancer Care, if you would like to join us please feel free to contact Club Yandina at yandinabowlsclubinc@bigpond.com  & we will forward more information to you.

Friday night Bistros continue to be popular at Club Yandina with our chefs, Channa & Ruby from Journey Foods producing delicious meals for all.  If you are looking for a venue to hold your next celebration Club Yandina would be a great place for you.  Our Functions Manager, Gwyn Bruce, would be only too happy to discuss your needs & tailor catering to suit.  For enquiries or to book a table for the Bistro or our Courtesy Bus for Friday nights please ring Club Yandina on 5446 7126.
