‘Berry fun evening’: Chevallum StrawbFest returns bigger than ever after 4-year hiatus

“StrawbFest is a celebration of tradition, togetherness, and the vibrant spirit of our community. We’re excited to see families come down for what promises to be a ‘berry’ fun evening!,” Mrs Jarrett said.

The Chevallum community is buzzing with excitement as the highly-anticipated Chevallum StrawbFest makes a triumphant comeback next month after a 4-year hiatus due to the challenges posed by the global pandemic.

Organised by Chevallum State School in collaboration with the Queensland Strawberry Grower’s Association, and with thanks to the Palmwoods Community Branch Heritage Bank, this year’s event promises to be an unforgettable celebration of all things strawberry.

Kellie Jarrett, President of the volunteer Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association in charge of running StrawbFest, expressed her enthusiasm for the event’s grand return.

"The past few years have been challenging for all of us but we are back stronger and more vibrant than ever. This is the main fundraising event for the Chevallum school community and our volunteers have worked tirelessly to bring together a spectacular showcase that will not only entertain but also pay tribute to our incredible community spirit.”

Scheduled for Friday September 8th from 5pm until late, Chevallum StrawbFest is gearing up to be an extravaganza like no other, offering delectable strawberry offerings from the Queensland Strawberry Grower’s Association and a plethora of entertainment across three vibrant stages.

“We thank the Sunshine Coast strawberry growers for their continued support and look forward to presenting a delicious array of strawberry treats made with their produce. Think everything strawberry - chocolate dipped strawberries, strawberry sundaes, strawberry kebabs, strawberry daiquiris, fresh strawberries with cream and more.

“Entertainment includes Andrea Kirwin and Benjam on the main stage, amusement rides for kids (big and small), more than a dozen food stalls, a licenced bar, a mega-raffle with over $21,000 in prizes, and at 9pm we will have the biggest fireworks show in the event’s history.

“StrawbFest is a celebration of tradition, togetherness, and the vibrant spirit of our community. We’re excited to see families come down for what promises to be a ‘berry’ fun evening!,” Mrs Jarrett said.

The 34th Chevallum StrawbFest will take place at Chevallum State School, 460 Chevallum Road, Chevallum on Friday 8th September from 5:00pm - 9:00pm. Entry is free and all profits from the event will go back to supporting the educational needs of kids within the Chevallum school community.
