The Nambour Chamber of Commerce Coffee Catchup on July 3 heard from several people about a number of promising developments in the area.

At the meeting at Frankies Cafe in Woombye, Board member Jody Chatillon praised local contributors Rhonda Billett from “I am Nambour” and Martin Duncan from Sconetime for their efforts in promoting the region.

Ms Chatillon highlighted the role Ms Billett played in bringing national attention to Nambour through the Sunrise TV broadcast from the newly renovated Big Pineapple tourist attraction. “If it wasn’t for Rhonda and I am Nambour, Sunrise wouldn’t have come to the Big Pineapple and broadcast nationally from our region. So congratulations to you because that’s actually a massive thing,” Ms Chatillon said.

The major renovations, café reopening and return of the trains at the Big Pineapple was also noted as a positive development, benefiting the entire complex, including the Wildlife HQ zoo.

Additionally, the success of the Queensland Garden Expo over the weekend was acknowledged. Ms Chatillon emphasised the event’s contribution to local businesses, including accommodation and food services, drawing visitors to the region.

Martin Duncan’s Sconetime event in the town square was another highlight, attracting significant foot traffic to the CBD and generating social media buzz. “Sconetime happened the other week. Again, just so much more foot traffic into that CBD area. Lots and lots of sharing on social media and just highlighting the fact that we are in actually a really great part of the Sunshine Coast,” Ms Chatillon remarked.

The September Chamber of Commerce Coffee Catchup will be held at the Big Pineapple, providing an opportunity for members to explore the recently revamped attraction.

Ms Chatillon celebrated the positive developments and events happening in Nambour, such as the recent Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show emphasising the importance of recognizing and promoting the region’s local businesses and natural attractions.

“It’s so important to highlight that there’s some really great things happening in our local area right here. So congratulations to both of you, but obviously to everybody who turns up to these events too.”
