Thief breaks in to Nambour Outdoor Power during downpour

While the best of human behaviour has been on display around Nambour and the hinterland over the past week and a half, some business owners were left in disbelief at the actions of others.

On Sunday night at around 1.30am, a man cut through the fence at Nambour Outdoor Power in Howard Street and stole dead batteries and metal scrap parts.

“When we came in to check on the shop on Monday morning after the rain, we were so relieved to find that we had escaped the water, but couldn’t believe that someone had broken into our property,” said business owner, Jo Williamson.

“Luckily we have very good security, and cameras all around the property.”

The CCTV footage showed the man having a good look around the property.

“The following night, two different men cut through the fence and came onto the property. They had an angle grinder and from the security camera footage, it looked as though they were trying to find a point to access either our building, or Neighbor’s Aid next door. Nothing was taken this time.

“The boys went and bought some REO mesh and welded up the hole in the fence on Tuesday morning,” she said.

The camera footage has been handed over to the Nambour Police.
