Exhibition casts fresh light on town
Local psychologist Dr Kirsty Williamson, through her popular Instagram account @asseeninnambour, has been transforming perceptions of Nambour by capturing and sharing its often-overlooked beauty.
Now, she is set to showcase her work in an upcoming exhibition at the Old Ambulance Station, aiming to dispel negative stereotypes and reveal the true charm of the town.
The exhibition will feature Dr. Williamson’s captivating photographs of Nambour, alongside her unique textile art—refashioned denim garments adorned with stitched song lyrics. Additionally, she is collaborating with Ann Louise Ciel and Elijah Huckel to make visible some of the unseen narratives behind her creative work.
“This exhibition is a celebration of Nambour and an autoethnographic account of my experience within this community,” Dr Williamson said.
Div 10 Cr David Law will also be attending the opening. Cr Law has contributed to one of the denim pieces, he has also inspired some of the response art on display, which features his favourite quote.
The exhibition promises to offer a fresh perspective on Nambour, inviting the community to see the town through Dr Williamson’s eyes.
