Wallace backs Coast’s oldest bowls club

An elected Federal LNP Government will deliver $125,000 to the oldest bowls club on the Sunshine Coast, the Palmwoods Bowls Club, to deliver safety and amenity upgrades at the weather-worn club.

“Established in 1931, the Palmwoods Bowls Club has long been an institution in the local community,” Federal Member for Fisher, Andrew Wallace MP said during a visit to the club on April 10.

“Over many years, the club’s Chair, Glynis Myers, and her team have created a space that brings the community together, helps to combat loneliness, encourages an active lifestyle, and fosters a sense of competition and community spirit.

“This upgrade will address safety issues, repair weather damage to infrastructure, and ensure that the club is able to continue bringing the Palmwoods community together for many years to come.

Chair of the Palmwoods Bowls Club, Glynis Myers, welcomed the commitment.

“Little clubs like ours rely on volunteers and community support, and our Palmwoods community has always stepped up to the plate,” Ms Myers said.

“I’m pleased that the LNP has committed to getting behind us to get the upgrades done, and that our own Federal Member has shown his personal support for our community.”
