Member for Glass House Andrew Powell is excited to announce the second round of winners in his 2020 Local Heroes Grants.

Each year, up to four grants of $250 are available for individuals or groups in the electorate, four times a year.

The grants are designed to help small community groups, individuals or small businesses get by.  Groups like sporting clubs, neighbourhood centres and RSL’s are just some examples of who can apply.

In no particular order, the winners are:

Eudlo State School – The school have used their grant to purchase a flagpole for their Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags.

SU QLD – This organisation will put their money towards supporting chaplaincy in the Glass House electorate.

Maleny Swimming Club – The Club will be putting their $250 towards paying bills that will enable them to keep the pool open during this difficult COVID time.

“I was particularly pleased to help out the Maleny Swimming Club, who had told me that they had literally no funds left and were relying on donations to keep the pool open”

“These grants are all about supporting our local, grassroots community groups and amazing individuals. $250 sometimes makes all the difference and allows them to host an event, attend an elite sporting event or simply keep on doing what they do.”

Applications for round three are currently open and will remain open until Monday 24th August.

“To apply for round three, head over to my website at http://andrewpowell.com.au” Mr Powell concluded.
