Yearning to nurture relationships inspires Palmwoods beauty therapist

Twenty-seven years in the beauty industry and a great love for pampering clients has been the impetus for Karina to start her beauty room in Palmwoods.

Karina owned a beauty salon in Adelaide for 12 years and moved to Palmwoods 2 years ago. “I think the hardest thing about leaving Adelaide was saying goodbye to my beautiful long term clients,” Karina said. “It is amazing how much you go through together over so many years. Doing what I do is such a privilege because you get to know people so well. It is such a joy to nurture long term relationships and really look after my clients.”

For the past 2 years Karina has been working in luxury Day Spas in Noosa and Mooloolaba. “I enjoyed working in that environment,” she said. “But I missed the ongoing relationships with regular clients so I decided to start my own business again. I feel so fortunate to have joined the fabulous hairdresser Michelle at Mojo Hairstyling here in Palmwoods.”

Karina’s specialty is waxing and she combines Australian natural, organic and cruelty free products with her own specialised technique to get superior results for her clients. “I source my waxing products from interstate and all of the products I use in my salon are of the absolute highest quality. I have also developed waxing techniques that respect my client’s privacy and modesty. This is so important because body waxing is quite intimate and can seem a little invasive if it is not done respectfully.” Karina’s waxing services also include back, shoulder and chest waxing for men.

Karina also offers facials, using organic and vegan skin care products, eyelash lifts, pedicures, manicures and shellac services. “Again, the quality of the products is key to getting best results,” she said. “For example, my nail services clients love the nail polish range I use because it is non toxic, breathable and actually nourishes the nails, so the health of their nails is not compromised by using cheap, toxic products.”

The themes of Australian, organic, natural and cruelty free are central to Karina’s products and practices. “These are values that are extremely important to me, and I have found over the years that my business has attracted clients who feel the same way,” she said. “I think it is a small but powerful way we can individually make a positive difference in the world.”

“At the moment people are thinking about Christmas gifts and given the events of the past 12 months, I am finding that they want to support local businesses and give very meaningful gifts,” said Karina. “I have some beautiful gift options including gift vouchers, pamper packages and my signature ‘Chill Out’ massages, which have always been very popular. You can be absolutely assured that I will give the recipient the most nurturing and memorable experience.”
