The festival is cancelled but the spirit lives on and there are some tasty offerings up for grabs in Chevallum State School P&C’s Mega Raffle. Pictured getting in to the spirit are, from left, P&C Secretary Julia Sellars, President Kirsten Bowman and pupils Flynn and Lou Sillars and Greta Bowman.

Strawbfest — the annual “all things strawberries’’ event that’s a highlight on the Coast’s calendar and raises funds for Chevallum State School, has been postponed until 2022.

“As an organising committee we’re incredibly disappointed, but feel we have a responsibility to the community and deemed it inappropriate to gather in the thousands this year for our wonderful event,” said Chevallum’s P&C President Kirsten Bowman. “Strawbfest will be back bigger and better than ever on Friday 11 September in 2022.”

The other good news is that the Strawbfest Mega Raffle is open now to all hinterlanders. Tickets start at $2 with six bundle options also available. 10 prize packs are on offer in a $14,000+ prize pool. “As well as being a great community event, Strawbfest is also a vital fundraiser for us, and we hope the community can support Chevallum via our raffle,” said Kirsten. “So get the message out there to your friends, family and colleagues and buy some tickets.”

Sunshine Coast businesses have made the raffle possible and special thanks go out to the major raffle sponsor Greenwood Forest Glen and to Queensland Strawberries and Strawesome for their overall support of Strawbfest.

The Strawbfest Mega Raffle will be drawn on Friday 10 September and winners will be notified via email.

Based on its teaching philosophies and love of community, Chevallum has been long sought-after school by families across the coast who come from far and wide to have their kids at the school.  There’s a wait list for new students. Children thrive in the environment, with the school’s principal and teachers at its heart. Strawbfest (which will look different this year) is a tradition at Chevallum and the school has long maintained relationships with surrounding farmers. Chevallum also celebrates its centenary this year.
