Wednesday evening saw the start of our 7 week Corporate Bowls League, this year being sponsored by our Woombye Bendigo Bank.

The event is designed so the business community can gather, relax, socialise and network while enjoying a game of bowls. Thank you to the 16 local businesses who are joining us, learning new skills and enjoying the friendly rivalry.

On Saturday afternoon, 2 Club Championship Finals were held, along with our weekly Scroungers event. In the B Grade Ladies final Julie Christian won 25-16 against upcoming bowler Barbara Hastie in an exciting match. And in the Men’s Pairs final, Doug Tognolini and Shane Krause defeated Neville Kuskopf and Howard Riach 23-11 in a well-fought game. Congratulations to all for displaying good sportsmanship and great bowling skills, entertaining many spectators.

On Sunday, another of our popular Seafood Days was held in tricky, windy conditions. Overall winners, adjusting well to the conditions, with a score of 3+47 was a team from Coolum Beach—Keith Wilson, Terry Cashmore, Mick Japunza and Joey Dawe.

Runners Up with 3+30 was a team from Caloundra Waves.

Thank you to all bowlers, staff and volunteers who helped make this another successful Seafood Day at Woombye.
