LNP commits $38k to Wishlist’s Reed House for hospital visitors
An elected LNP Government would commit $38,303 to a project for renovations of Reed House in Nambour, Member for Nicklin Marty Hunt announced this week.
Reed House is run by local charity Wishlist and manned 24 hours by volunteers. It provides affordable accommodation to families when they have to attend Nambour Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Hospital. The money will be used for new carpeting, painting, shower heads, appliances and other minor repairs.
Mr Hunt said he was proud to be able to commit the funding to such a wonderful local charity in Nambour.
“Wishlist has a great reputation on the Sunshine Coast for providing services to people in the stressful situation of having family members in our hospitals,” he said. “These units at Reed House are a great local facility here in Nambour but need some TLC to ensure they are comfortable for families. With our Nambour Hospital renovations finally underway there will be increasing need into the future to support families who need this service. I’m pleased that I was able to secure a commitment to fund these renovations if we are elected into Government.”
Wishlist was delighted for any support of its accommodation facilities, particularly Reed House. “Reed House has been around for 11 years and has supported the needs of more than 16,500 people from all over the region and beyond,” Ms Rowe said.
“It is in need of a little bit of a face-lift and thanks to this funding, we would be able to make that go a long way with carpets, painting, new appliances and the like.
“It all goes towards ensuring guests have an extra comfortable stay at Reed House while accessing medical treatment at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital or Nambour Hospital.”
