Join the Clean-up Australia Day at Nambour’s Quota Park on March 7
Sunday March 7 is Clean-up Australia Day. Petrie Creek Catchment Care Group are again co-ordinating a clean-up site at Quota Park Nambour and along Petrie Creek.
The group has been involved for many years in supporting Clean Up Australia Day.
“This is our annual event where we focus on removing rubbish along Petrie Creek and the adjacent parks, paths, roads and under bridges to improve the environmental quality of these areas and prevent the wash of rubbish downstream into the Maroochy River and eventually out to sea,” said organiser Jamie Slaven.
He said Petrie Creek was important habitat for many native animals and plants and particularly important for the iconic Platypus which have been sighted in the creek over many years.
“We would love the local community to come along and help on the day,” he said.
“It is a great way to help tidy up this beautiful part of Nambour and make a difference to improve the environmental quality of Petrie Creek. The site is suitable for all ages and abilities.”
