19th Annual Walk for Daniel to bring focus to child safety

Bruce Morcombe, BOQ Maroochydore owner/manager Nicholas Barker and Denise Morcombe are encouraging everyone to participate in the Walk for Daniel on October 27.

It's a very local event but one that resonates with families across Australia.

The Walk for Daniel, organized by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and supported by BOQ Maroochydore, will take place on Friday, October 27.

The 19th annual event aims to honour the memory of Daniel Morcombe while raising awareness about child safety and marking the launch of Day for Daniel, the Foundation's flagship child safety campaign.

Participants will gather at Suncoast Christian College in Woombye from 6am and make their way to Briggs Park.

In doing so, they finish a poignant 4km walk that symbolises the journey Daniel could not complete himself.

The walk is expected to conclude by 9am.

Free shuttle buses will operate from 5.45am. Parking will be available at Palmwoods Warriors Football Club.

The event is family-friendly and welcomes pets, although dogs will not be allowed on the shuttle buses.

Participants are encouraged to wear walking-appropriate attire and add a splash of red to their outfit.

Refreshments, including coffee and food will be available to walkers.

Community members are invited to come together to honour Daniel's legacy and contribute to the important cause of child safety.
