Rudolph takes day off as Firies give Santa a lift around sunny Palmwoods

For Palmwoods kids it was almost too good to be true. Santa Claus and fire engines, all in the one day! It was all thanks to the Palmwoods Rural Fire Brigade whose members were on hand on Sunday to give Santa a lift and spread some Christmas cheer around town.

It was the first of what will become an annual Santa Parade through local streets.

Santa called on the firies in order to give Rudolph and the rest of his reindeer a break from the Aussie summer heat.

The Palmwoods Rural Fire Brigade was only too happy to help.  Santa and his firefighter helpers visited eight popular spots around town as kids sat with him for photos, hugs, some lollies or even just to give him a wave.

Santa had a busy schedule so the firies assisted with lights flashing and sirens sounding to avoid delays.

Santa said he appreciated the work done by the local firies.

“It’s too hot for me,” he said. “I prefer the north pole. But I do enjoy delivering presents to all the boys and girls around Palmwoods and the hinterland.”

“I think it’s amazing that they started doing this,”  a parent said. “It brings a lot of joy and all those good feelings. It just makes everyone really happy.”
