The Yandina Branch of the Queensland country Women’s Association recently held their AGM with Division President Patsy Lee chairing the meeting.

The ladies enjoyed hearing reports from the Branch President, Treasurer, International Officer and Country Kitchens Facilitator. Outgoing officers were thanked for their efforts during their terms and new members of the executive team were welcomed. Jenny Douglas was elected as President, Alex Clarke and Ursula Brady as Vice Presidents along with Elise Winton with the dual role of Treasurer and VP, Maureen Brook as Secretary and Lee Goleby as International Officer.

Solicitor and University of the Sunshine Coast University lecturer Kirsty Mackie was the guest speaker. The ladies were very interested in her presentation about the importance of key documents including Enduring Power of Attorney, wills and family agreements as well as forms of elder abuse and ways to protect yourself.

The executive committee is looking forward to leading the branch for the coming year including their involvement in the upcoming Yandina Street Fair on Sunday 20th August. The ladies will be running a Tea Room and will be selling handmade craft items, plants, baked goods and preserves from the QCWA Hall at 11 Stevens Street Yandina. There will also be a raffle with a range of prizes including a Nutrimetics pack, picnic hamper and blanket and prizes donated by 10 Toes Brewery, Uptown Hair, Thai Frenzy restaurant and the Beekeepers Association.

The ladies are very appreciative of the support of the community and local businesses which allows them to use funds raised to support members of the local and wider community.
