Custom framing business continues tradition of craftsmanship
The year was 1995. Telecom changed its name to Telstra, the Cowboys finished last in their debut season and Yandina Art & Framing commenced trading.
Many things have changed since then – mobile phones now rule the world, the Cowboys have won a premiership but one thing remains constant; the Yandina Art & Framing commitment to serving the local community by providing the highest quality custom framing service. “Brian Curry set the standard for ensuring customers were given work that complimented their décor and were made from the best grade materials,” said current owner, Bill Gissane.
When Brian retired and sold the business to Bill in 2015, it was part of the understanding that these traditions would continue.
“That was a wonderful legacy that we were determined to keep alive,” Mr Gissane said.
Today, the business’s reputation for providing superior service is cemented in the insistence on spending time with customers during the consultation process, to understand not only the decor each piece will adorn, but also the history and sentimental value of each piece.
“Talking to customers about their needs and offering them great solutions is part of our DNA,” Mr Gissane said.
The team at Yandina Art & Framing have undertaken complex and intricate and technically difficult framing and restoration jobs aver the past ten years, and their world class work now graces the walls of private homes and iconic businesses alike. Each bespoke piece is imbued with a story that will be passed down through generations.
“Charmaine, Mitch and Dan are all trained in advanced framing techniques and Sophie brings an extra dimension with her post graduate qualification in painting conservation. Whether it’s a family heirloom or military medals, YA&F does it all,” he said.
“We love art and enjoy the experience of presenting it at its best.”
