Labor promises $10.2m for Woombye  School upgrades

Nicklin MP Rob Skelton has announced that a re-elected Miles Labor Government would invest $10.2 million to upgrade Woombye State School. 

The funding would cover an $8.5 million overhaul of the school hall and music rooms, along with the construction of new prep and senior playgrounds, and resurfacing of the sports court.

Mr Skelton emphasised the importance of education for all students. “No matter where you live, all our kids deserve access to high-quality learning opportunities which allow them to succeed and unlock their potential.”

The investment in Woombye State School is part of a broader commitment to local schools in the Nicklin electorate. Labor has pledged to deliver a new performing arts centre at Burnside State School, expanded facilities at Yandina State School, and additional upgrades across several other schools.

 “I’m proud to have secured two massive election commitments which will see our local schools continue to go from strength to strength and ensure that our teachers can bring the best out of their students.”

The commitment was a result of the working partnership between Mr Skelton and the Woombye State School P&C.

… and $5.2m for science precinct

 A re-elected State Labor Government would deliver a brand-new science precinct at Nambour State College, according to Nicklin MP Rob Skelton. 

Mr Skelton announced the new science precinct would include a state-of-the-art senior & junior workshop, design studios and a robotics lab to bring out the best in our children and set them up for the future.

The facility will support advanced learning opportunities in key areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science, ensuring students are well-prepared for both higher education and careers in STEM industries.

“Our children deserve the best learning environments to prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow,” said Mr Skelton.

“This new science block at Nambour State College is an investment in their future, and it reflects our commitment to ensuring every student has access to world-class education right here at home.

“With growing opportunities in renewable energy and engineering across our region like the Borumba Pumped Hydro project, the new science block will equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to participate in major infrastructure developments.
