White’s IGA take out top honour at Training Awards
White’S IGA was named ‘Large Employer of the Year’ at the 62nd Queensland Training Awards last Saturday night.
Owners Michael and Roz White celebrate 30 years as supermarket operators this year. The pair have built the business to six multi-award winning IGA stores across the Sunshine Coast which employ over 500 staff.
Roz said the award was recognition for the business’s focus on training for all staff along with the development of a training platform which currently supports more than 1400 IGA stores. “I know it’s a cliché but we really do treat our staff like family. We care for them as people and we want them to embrace our culture,” Roz said. “We also understand the importance of providing comprehensive training to ensure they know how to safely fulfill their role within the business while also providing extensive opportunities to further their career with us.
This latest award follows years of industry recognition and accolades for the White’s which includes the IGA National Store of the Year in 2021 and in July this year White's IGA won two IGA national awards of excellence which included Customer Service and Experience at White’s IGA Baringa and Delicatessen of the Year at White IGA Mt Coolum. White’s IGA is now eligible for the national award at the Australian Training Awards in Hobart on Friday 17 November this year.
