What’s On: clean up events, chamber music, an indoor market & more …

Petrie Creek Catchment Care Group Inc is again coordinating a Clean-Up Australia Day site at Quota Park Nambour.

The group is seeking volunteers to help with the event on Sunday March 3.

“We’re asking people to arrive anytime between 7.30am and 11am,” said Site Coordinator Jamie Slaven.  “We are meeting at the large BBQ shelter at Quota Park. You can come and go whenever you wish in that time period and help us pick up as much rubbish as we can. We’re planning to pick up rubbish along Petrie Creek and in the surrounding business area of Nambour.”

Jamie said the event was an opportunity to collect rubbish that had washed down with the stormwater and to prevent further spread down into the Maroochy River estuary. “Quota Park is a central location with plenty of areas that need a tidy up. Petrie Creek is home to a local platypus population and it is important to protect and treasure its natural environment.”

How to help:

Bring sturdy shoes and your own gloves.  The group will supply gloves for anyone who doesn’t bring some.  Morning tea refreshments will be provided for everyone who helps. This is suitable for all the family.  You can register your interest or find more information on the Clean Up Australia Day website by searching for the “Nambour” site. Or you can contact Jamie on 0432 567 603. “Otherwise we’re happy for people to just turn up on the day,” said Jamie.
